If you were selected for Verification, there is a possibility that you will also be asked to submit tax documents. If you were a victim of IRS Tax-Related Identity Theft, the documents that you need to submit differ from those required from other students. Please see the list of required documents below and be sure to contact your Student Advisor with additional questions.
Required Tax Documents for Victims of IRS Tax-Related Identity Theft:
- A copy of your Original Tax Returns (1040, 1040A, 1040EZ)
If you do NOT have a copy of you Tax Return or did NOT file taxes:
- A copy of your Original W2's
- A signed and dated student statement stating you were the victim of IRS Tax-Related Identity Theft and that the IRS has been made aware of the Identity Theft.
- A Tax Return DataBase View (TRDBV) Transcript obtained from the IRS. The IRS likely sent this transcript when you first notified them of the Tax Related Identity Theft. However, if you need to obtain a new TRDBV, simply call 800-908-4490 and speak with someone in the IRS's Identity Protection Specialized Unit. More than likely, the TRDBV will be mailed to you which can take up to 10 business days.
