Provisional Requirements

Provisional Requirements for students admitted to the university starting in the Winter C 2020 Term will have to meet the following provisional requirements. 

*If you were admitted to the university prior to the Winter C 2020 term your requirements will differ from what is addressed below. Please reach out to your Success Counselor with any questions you may have about reaching full admission. 

Provisional Requirements for Undergraduate Students 

  • To be eligible for full admission, provisionally admitted undergraduate students are required to:
    • Complete coursework in two consecutive trimesters
    • Complete nine (9) credit hours within their first two consecutive trimesters
    • Earn and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher at the end of the second trimester
    • Earn an institutional cumulative course completion rate of 66.66% or higher at the end of the second trimester

 Provisional reviews will run at the end of the students second trimester, and if they are not meeting the standards above, they are withdrawn. 

Provisional Requirements for Graduate Students

  • To be eligible for full admission, provisionally admitted graduate students are required to:
    • Complete coursework in two consecutive trimesters
    • Complete three (3) credit hours in each of the first and second trimesters (for a minimum of 6 credits) 
    • Earn and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher at the end of the second trimester
    • Earn an institutional cumulative course completion rate of 66.66% or higher at the end of the second trimester 

Provisional reviews will run at the end of the students second trimester, and if they are not meeting the standards above, they are withdrawn. 

Graduate Provisional Student with Prerequisite Course Requirements 

Graduate students admitted provisionally due to low undergraduate GPA AND prerequisite coursework must meet satisfactory academic progress requirements as well as prerequisite requirements. Essentially you will need to meet 2 benchmarks to be fully admitted.

1)            Prerequisite Course Requirement - Prerequisite courses need to be completed within 1 year from the date of enrollment, earning a 3.00 GPA upon completion of all prerequisite classes, and all course grades must be a C or better.

2)            Provisionally Admitted Graduate Student Requirement - once the prerequisite courses are completed students must begin graduate coursework in the next available term and are required to meet provisional requirements in two consecutive trimesters.  They will be required to: 

  • Complete coursework in two consecutive trimesters
  • Complete three (3) credit hours in each of the first and second trimesters (for a minimum of 6 credits) 
  • Earn and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher at the end of the second trimester
  • Earn an institutional cumulative course completion rate of 66.66% or higher at the end of the second trimester 


Students who are administratively withdrawn for not meeting prerequisite or provisional requirements may re-apply after a period of 6 months following their withdrawal date.
