Year Round Pell

Year Round Pell

As of July 1, 2017, the Department of Education changed the rules of the Pell grant, allowing you to receive additional Pell funds if you max out your Pell grant before the new FAFSA year begins on July 1st.

Here is a sample chart showing how the Pell grant used to work (terms/trimesters will be different for Gold Track Students):

With the changes to the Pell grant, you are now able to get additional funding as long as you reach half time status (6 credits for Undergrad) in the Trimester. Once you have used 100% of your Pell for the FAFSA year (July 1 - June 30) you may be able to get an additional 50% of your Pell in the Spring trimester.
Keep in mind that students are still only able to receive 600% Pell in their lifetime, which means that taking the extra Pell grant may reduce the number of years you can receive it.
